Hey, have I got news! My author has just launched The Case of the Duffle Bag Kids, a Hercules and Big Bertha Mystery, another tale told by the dog hero. It’s for older youth and adults, so you Long Dog readers need to age a little but your older siblings and parents will go crazy over the book.
You see, my friend Hercules likes to tell about his adventures helping his new-found P.I. lady friend, Big Bertha Kowolski, who he dubs Big Gal first time he meets her—she shares her hamburger with him. Not much later, Hercules launches himself into a fray with her and brings down a buck-toothed thug. Then Big Gal takes over the bumbling bad guy while Hercules sniffs out a drugged kid in a duffle bag. And so Hercules, just dumped out of a car by his nasty owner, hooks up with the reluctant lady (she’d prefer a ‘he-man’ kind of dog if she has to have a dog at all). Thus, their first case together involves kidnapped kids who keep turning up in duffle bags. But, the case is confusing on the law front as parents pay ransoms but get someone else’s kid back, often miles away from their abduction place!
Hercules, called Herc during times of excitement, gets into action with his lady partner, her cop boy-friend Detective Jamison, aka Handsome Hunk, and Snarly…er Constable Sanchez. Herc struggles to understand things like red herrings, losing a tail, needles in haystacks, three squares a day, and can’t figure out what ten things are up on the ceiling that Big Gal often checks out after tangling with the snarly cop. He can’t see a darn thing up there to count!
